The Perfect Fall Margarita

We have figured it out! Your favorite cocktail can be slightly altered so you can enjoy it all year round!! The Perfect Fall Margarita is just what you need this holiday season. You don’t have to bail on Mr. Jose Cuervo just because the temperatures are dropping. We combined the flavors of cranberry juice, fresh apple cider, cinnamon, and tequila. My secret weapon??? Grand Marnier! Enjoy this festive, sweet cocktail by the fire or while reading a good book this winter!

When I told my friends I wanted to come up with a good fall cocktail with tequila, they looked at me a little strange. It was hard to imagine what mixers would go well with tequila and taste like ‘fall’. After several tries and fails, this one is a totally winner. I have a tight-knit book club and at our monthly meeting, I introduced this baby. It was given a 5/5 by some very discerning and season beverage connoisseurs! 🙂 It is smooth and slightly sweet, with the Grand Marnier really just making it complete!

What is Grand Marnier?

Grand Marnier is a french liquor. It is made up of It is made from a blend of brandy, a distilled essence of orange bitters and sugar. It is 40% alcohol which, here in America, is considered 80 proof. Grand Marnier can be sipped alone, enjoyed in conjunction with other liquids as a mixer, or baked with! A comparable substitution is Cointreau. Since Grand Marnier is an orange-flavored liquor, most liquors with a heavy orange flavor can be used in its place.

Does it matter which tequila I use?

This is a great question! If you are drinking tequila straight or using it as the major flavor, then I would say it absolutely matters! From my research, Casamigo’s (found HERE) seems to be a usually winner in the taste department. In our cocktail, the tequila is not the front-runner flavor, so getting the expensive stuff isn’t mandatory! (Never hurts though 😉 We use Jose Gold and find it tastes amazing in our fall margarita!
