Spicy Honey Meatballs

These are the worlds BEST 5-ingredient meatballs ever! Our Spicy Honey Meatballs are so flavorful and so easy to make that they are seriously our favorite thing right now. There is just enough heat from the sriracha to make it hit but the sweetness of the honey evens it out so it’s not overwhelming. Best. Appetizer. Ever.

We are always having gatherings for my husbands work, neighborhood friends, or church potlucks. Instead of bringing the same things all the time, I try to create recipes that aren’t incredible demanding but that taste great. This one hit it out of the park! They aren’t so spicy where my kids can’t eat them but do have just enough kick to make them special. I can make these super quick, like between telling my kids to put away their homework to getting their shoes on to run out the door! Definitely a win for this on-the-go mom!

What is Sriracha made out of?

Sriracha is made of chili peppers, sugar, garlic, distilled vinegar, and salt. Its consistency varies between brands- some have a consistency that is a lot like ketchup, and the more traditional ones have a thinner, more liquid consistency. We love THIS brand and its definitely has a thinner, more runny consistency. It is delicious and a wonderful addition to your pantry.

Do I have to defrost my meatballs for cooking?

No!! That is the beauty of this specific recipe too! There is no need to thaw beforehand. You can throw the frozen meatballs onto the skillet with the sauce mixture, and while they are being coated, they slowly heat through! It makes the cook time longer when using frozen, but to not have to prep before is totally worth the extra 5 minutes of cook time!

Ingredients for our Spicy Honey Meatballs

  • 1/3 C honey
  • 1/3 C brown sugar
  • 3 TBS sriracha
  • 1 TBS mustard
  • 16 oz frozen meatballs

How to make our Spicy Honey Meatballs:

Place a pan or skillet on the stove top and heat to medium-high heat. Measure out all ingredients and put them in the pan. Whisk all the ingredients together.

Once heat through and fully combined, add the meatballs (frozen or thawed) to the mixture. If the meatballs are frozen, which they are for our recipe and how we determined our cook time, great! If they are room temperature, the cook time will be cut in half.

Last, completely coat the meatballs and heat until they are warmed all the way through. This should take about 10 minutes. The mixture will be really nice and thick so they will be coated beautifully!

Serve and enjoy!

Final of our Spicy Honey Meatballs

You can enjoy these year round and for pretty much any reason. They are simple to make with how few steps there are. They can be an appetizer, a side item, or top a pasta dish that was lacking protein previously. Kid and husband friendly, there is not much of a chance of having leftovers of these!
