This spring break, the kids and I had a road trip planned to drive from Florida to North Carolina. One of the stops we were all most excited about was a visit to Truett’s Luau, or “Hawaiian Chick Fil A” as we like to call it! Unfortunately, our plans were abruptly cancelled and suddenly we were at home all day, everyday! A friend of mine and I were looking for a way to mix things up a little and give a fun twist on Chick Fil A for the kids…these amazing tacos were born!

Does Chick Fil A have tacos?

The only Chick Fil A you can currently find tacos is at Truett’s Luau. They serve fish, pork, beef and chicken tacos. These tacos were the inspiration behind our very own Chick Fil A Tacos.

What is the Chick Fil A Luau?

Truett’s Luau is a Chick Fil A in Fayetteville, GA with a Hawaiian Theme. This location features the classic menu items you can find at your local Chick Fil A as well as many other Hawaiian and tropical themed selections.

How to make our Chick Fil A Tacos:

First, on a cutting board, dice onion.

Sauté until caramelized. This takes about 10 minutes to cook these onions. The onions will be a golden brown color and the more carmelized they are, the better the flavor! Once onions are fully cooked, set aside.

Chop chicken nuggets and set aside. I typically cut each nugget into about 6 pieces. Although this step seems unimportant, I promise you it makes a big difference! There is something about tasting each ingredient in every bite that makes these tacos so good!

In a medium skillet, heat tortillas over medium low heat with about a teaspoon of oil or butter on each side for about 30 seconds, turning over halfway through. This is just to warm and toast up the tortilla a little.

To assemble the tacos, sprinkle about a tablespoon of cheese on tortilla. It is best on the bottom because the heat from the chicken and onions will slightly melt the cheese!

Place a scoop of diced chicken, 1 spoonful of onion, and about 1/3 of a kale salad.

Everyone we have shared this recipe with has loved it! As if Chick Fil A wasn’t already delicious enough on its own, these tacos take it to the next level. Even picky eaters can’t resist when you tell them where half of the ingredients came from! Give these a try and you can thank me later!! ☺️
