Our Summertime Cocktail is refreshing, thirst-quenching, and just perfect for a warm summer day! Cranberry juice, vodka, and sprite combine for a great summer sipper and is topped off perfectly with fresh squeezed lemon juice for the ultimate cocktail.
My father-in-law lives in South Florida, where it feels like summer year ’round. He is always coming up with great drinks to incorporate into their weekly line-up. One of the times we were together, we concocted this wonderful drink! It was an accident because we honestly were just using what we had so we didn’t have to run to the store. The cranberry juice is a little tart, the sprite gives that delicious fizz and the fresh lemon juice top its off and enhances the sprite flavors. It goes down way easy so be sure to pace yourself! Ha!
Is Vodka good for summer?
We find that when it comes to summer and go-to drinks, no liquor is more versatile that vodka! It is fairly strong, so it can give you that nice feeling while still cooling you down in a refreshing beverage. It is fairly neutral in flavor, so it tends to mix well with just about anything! You can pair it with sodas, lemonade and most juices.
Can I substitute something else for the vodka?
Yes! A great substitution in this specific cocktail would be gin. It has a subtle taste and mixes great with the other ingredients. You could also use a white rum to have a delicious outcome too.

How to make our Summertime Cocktail:
Fill a glass with a lot of ice. This beverage is best when nice and cold.
Add 1/2 cup of sprite, 1/4th cup of cranberry juice, and 1.5 ounces of vodka. Give a slight stir. Top with about 1 tablespoon of fresh-squeezed lemon juice.
There really is nothing quite like an ice cold beverage on a hot summer day that tastes good AND makes you feel good. Want less sugar? Make it a Sprite Zero and get diet cranberry juice. Want more citrus in there? Substitute the Sprite for Fresca and you are there! You can’t go wrong with any of these combinations! Delicious, easy, and a perfect way to beat the heat!
