5 Ingredient Lasagna

This will be the easiest lasagna you have ever made- guaranteed! Our 5 Ingredient Lasagna is so simple to make and is delicious! We mix it up by using cheddar cheese and we keep the sauce light! The result is phenomenal and when my family requests a lasagna, I’m totally on board to make it!

When I used to hear the word ‘lasagna’, the first word that came to mind was always ‘exhausting’! The recipes I came across seemed to always be intense and the ingredients list was a mile long. I needed something easy but also with the same theme and taste. Insert quarantine here…. The grocery stores where I live where super sparse in the noodle section. These ones I used (pictured below) were the ONLY option, so I decided to give it a chance!

These ones worked exactly like they should and I only used ¼ of the package for this entire recipe!! So I can get 3 more lasagna’s out of the one package! That helped me swallow the higher price that I paid for them 🙂

How long does it take to cook lasagna?

Honestly, that all depends on the recipe you use. The recipe we are using derives it times based on the no-boil noodles we chose. On the back of the Delverde package, it instructs the time recommended for its specific product. Since the meat is already cooked, the cook time is for the noodles to come to the right consistency, the cheese to get wonderfully melty and for all the flavors to come together.

Do I have to cover my lasagna when I bake it?

We would say yes! We highly encourage you to cover the lasagna dish with foil when baking. It keeps the noodles from drying out and traps all the moisture that would otherwise evaporate off. We recommend removing the foil for the last ten minutes of cookings to get the cheese nice and toasted.

How to make our 5 Ingredient Lasagna:

The first step is to preheat your oven to 350 F. Next, brown your ground beef. You can always substitute ground beef with ground turkey, chicken, or sausage. You can really chose whatever you and your family prefer most. Once browned, drain the grease.

Next, lay out all of your ingredients so you can begin to layer the lasagna. First, spread about ¼ Cup of pasta sauce along the base of the baking dish.

Next, spread 1/3 of your beef mixture on top of the sauce, evenly distributing.

Once meat is on, layer the top of the meat with 1/4th of the cheddar cheese.

Then, place the noodle sheets on top. You can cut the edges or break a few in half if necessary to make it fit your particular dish.

Last, place dabs of the butter on top of the noodles. Do this combination of layering two more times.

Once you have done all the layering, end by placing another 1/4th cup of sauce on the noodles and sprinkling with cheese.

Bake for 40 minutes. Enjoy!

There is just something so liberating to me that I can have such a great dish like lasagna with 5 ingredients AND it’s so simple! I’m sure you noticed that absence of ricotta/cottage cheese. That was on purpose 🙂 My family loves the traditional dish but I always see so much of the white cheese pushed to the ‘no thank you’ side of their plate at the end of the meal. This is a great way to still have that wonderful dish exactly the way we like it!

5 Ingredient Lasagna
Yield: 6 Servings

5 Ingredient Lasagna

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 40 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour


  • 12 oz Lasagna Noodles
  • 1/2 Stick butter
  • 1.5 lb ground beef
  • 1 qt spaghetti sauce
  • 8 oz Cheddar Cheese


    1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
    2. Brown ground beef, drain, and set aside.
    3. Layer lasagna dish with 1/4th of pasta sauce, 1/3rd of the ground beef, and 1/3rd of the cheese.
    4. Place a layer of noodles over top of the cheese, and dab with 3 TBS of butter.
    5. Repeat the above step to make a total of three layers.
    6. When the last layer of pasta noodles are placed add the last of the butter, sauce, and cheese.
    7. Bake for 40 minutes.
    8. Enjoy!
