Do magic bars have to be refrigerated?

You don’t have to refrigerate our Quick Bake Magic Bars unless you’re in a really hot area. I would put them in an air-tight container to maximize freshness. If left out of the refrigerator, they are good for about 3 days. If you keep them chilled, they can last 5-7 days!

What is the difference between condensed milk and evaporated milk?

There is really on one major difference that sets these two canned milk products apart and that is the sugar content. Sweetened condensed milk is always sweetened, while evaporated milk is unsweetened. We find that the sweetened condensed milk also has a slightly thicker consistency.

What is evaporated milk?

Evaporated milk is milk that has been cooked down to allow some of the water content to evaporate. The concentrate is canned, and the result is a heavier tasting milk with a slightly toasted flavor.

Ingredients for our Quick Bake Magic Bars

Ingredients for our Quick Bake Magic Bars:

  • 1/2 Cup of butter (1 Stick)
  • 1 Cup Shredded Coconut
  • 1 Cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 6 oz dark chocolate chips
  • 1 C. Pecans, chopped
  • 1 Can Sweet Condensed Milk

How to make our Quick Bake Magic Bars:

First, you will need to preheat the oven to 350 F.

Next, in a bowl, melt your stick of butter. Pour the butter evenly in the bottom of a 9×13 dish.

Spread the graham cracker crumbs evenly over top of the butter and gently pat in place. If you notice some areas are a little more wet, just sprinkle a little more crumbs on top.

Layer the shredded coconut, diced pecans and then the dark chocolate chips. Last, drizzle the condensed milk evenly over mix.

Once all the ingredients are in place, bake for 30 minutes. Make sure you place the dish on a middle rack for even cooking. The sweet condensed milk will brown up slightly and spread out. You will also notice the chocolate chips start to soften.

Baked Quick Bake Magic Bars out of the oven in a casserole dish

Once pulled out of the oven, allow the bars to cool for 5-7 minutes. Cut while warm and remove from dish before completely cooled. If you wait too long to transfer out of the baking dish, the sweet condensed milk hardens and makes it difficult.

Quick Bake Magic Bars cut in pieces on a cake plate

There are so many times I need to provide a dessert for some event or gathering. This is such a great option because it takes less than 5 minutes to throw together and I can get dressed and ready while it bakes! My kids love them! You can absolutely leave the nuts off if there is an allergy and switch out the dark chocolate for milk chocolate if thats your preference!
