I had no idea just how easy it is to make homemade sausage! I have always bought it and really never even put thought to making it. A few years ago I tried Whole 30 for the first time and started creating everything from scratch! This sausage quickly became a staple in my house and I actually used it so many different ways!

Why does my sausage end up dry?

This is the worst! I can’t stand biting into a piece of sausage only to feel like Clark Griswold on Christmas Vacation eating the Turkey! 🙂 Make sure when you are making this sausage that the meat remains cold while mixing and that you do not over mix. This will break down the fat and cause it to dry out the meat.

Do I have to make this sausage with ground pork?

We have always made this particular recipe with pork, but ground turkey or chicken should work great too! You may need to adjust your cooking time to make sure that the internal temperature has reached what is recommended for the meat of your choosing!
