Delicious to the last bite!! Our 4 Ingredient Granola Bars are where it is at this week! Using our homemade granola, delicious dark chocolate, a small dab of butter, and a few fluffy marshmallows, these are a mom and kids delight! Under 115 calories each and super simple to make, these are a home run for snack time!
My daughter runs through granola bars like its her job. Whenever there is an excuse to have a snack, they are what she grabs 100% of the time. She is definitely a creature of habit 😉 I decided it was time I did something about making homemade bars so I knew exactly what was in them and also preservative-free! I never cared much for the store bought ones myself but these can be dan-ger-ous! They are absolutely delicious and now she has to fight me for the last one!
Can I substitute quick oats for rolled oats in granola?
Yes! Rolled oats are most commonly used in granola bars, cookies, muffins, and other baked goods. Instant oats can be used in place of rolled oats, although the cook time will be much less, and the final dish might not have as much texture. Sometimes, when in a pinch, I will substitute quick oats, but my family far prefers old fashioned oats.
Ingredients for our 4 Ingredient Granola Bars:
- Homemade Granola
- 1 TBS of butter
- 5 Cups of mini marshmallows
- Dark Chocolate chips
How to Make:
Melt the butter on medium heat in a large sauce pan. Once butter is melted, add in all 5 cups of your marshmallows.
Heat on medium low heat and stir constantly until all marshmallows are melted. Once melted, turn off heat.
Pour in all of the granola and stir until completely combined.
While still warm, pour granola mixture into a GREASED 9×11 baking dish. With a spatula, press the granola down into an even layer across the entire base of the dish.
Next, place your chocolate chips on a cutting board and roughly chop them up. Sprinkle them over top of the granola mixture. Press them in lightly with the spatula.
Cover and set aside until completely cooled. Once cooled, cut into sections, and pull out. Keep in an airtight container or bag and enjoy!
*These bars are great for up to week if properly stored!
When trying to make these bars, we experimented with a few different binding agents. As much as I had hoped honey would work, it didn’t give us the ease and consistency we wanted. The marshmallow’s just made it simple and taste oh so yummy. Since this recipe makes a pretty big batch, the calories and sugar aren’t too crazy and still make me happier to give my kiddos than the store bought! Give them a try and you’ll see for your self!
