Our BBQ Sweet Potato Slices have only three ingredients, are so easy to make, and are simply delicious! These little slices of perfection aren’t time consuming and add a little gourmet flair to a weeknight dinner. You can even prepare these as a snack when 4:00 rolls around and you are craving something sweet and savory!
My kids don’t typically enjoy a baked sweet potato and I don’t like having to beg them to eat them. My husband and I enjoy sweet potatoes any way we can get them so I had to get a little more creative. This recipe is fantastic for so many reasons. The prep time is almost nonexistent! You can cook on a grill or a stovetop. They cook up great and are ready to serve in 8-10 minutes. My kids love them and so do we. You can also personalize the toppings with whatever you would normally eat. They also are a great compliment to meals like our 3 Ingredient Baked Pork Chops, Apple Butter Chicken, or our BBQ Pulled Pork Tacos.
Are sweet potatoes healthier than regular potatoes?
Honestly, it depends on what health benefits you are looking for. Both potatoes are a healthy carbohydrate source. They both contain about the same amount of carbohydrates: 1/2 cup = 15 grams of carbs. Sweet potatoes, however, have more fiber and are slightly lower on the glycemic index than white potatoes. Most nutritionist would recommend eating a sweet potato over a white one!
Can you eat sweet potatoes on a keto diet?
Sadly, no you can not. Although they are an overall healthier option that white, starchy potatoes, sweet potatoes are pretty high in carbs, no matter how you cook it. Since a ketogenic diet relies on next to no carbs, you’ll have to say goodbye to this delicious vegetable!
Ingredients for our BBQ Sweet Potato Slices:
- 1 lb sweet potato (2-3 small ones)
- 1TBS BBQ seasoning
- 1/4 C crumbled feta cheese
- Fresh Chopped Parsley to garnish
How to make our BBQ Sweet Potato Slices:
First, dice sweet potato into 1/4 inch rounds. Place EVOO and BBQ seasoning in a bowl. Mix. Toss sweet potato rounds in mixture. Heat a skillet up to medium heat.
Heat a grated skillet over medium heat. Add one layer of the potatoes to the skillet and grill for 2-3 minutes per side.
As the slices cook, you will be able to smell the flavors! At about 3 minutes, I usually check the underside of one to gauge how much longer until I need to flip them. The second side always cooks faster than the first. I love the darker grill marks so I cook mine a little longer than my husband. It really comes down to you and your preference.
Once the slices are cooked, typically 3-4 minutes per side, you can garnish right there on the skillet or remove and garnish on a plate. If you leave them on the skillet, they will continue to cook. Add as much or as little feta as you like and serve!
The best part about these sweet potatoes is how simple yet tasty they are. You aren’t sacrificing taste because you only have 15 minutes, and you aren’t slaving for an hour to get something healthy and delicious. These are a family-pleasing option for any night of the week and work great for an appetizer or side dish. The BBQ seasoning is smoky and not too salty which makes it perfect for our taste!

I have to admit I have fully jumped onto the charcuterie bandwagon! I love all of the fun things you can do using a simple board or butcher paper to create a spread that everyone can enjoy! You can customize these fun trays into whatever your heart desires! I love watching ordinary store bought items transform into a beautiful arrangement of Valentine’s Day’s most popular treats!
What is I don’t like one of the ingredients?
This is the BEST part of making these boards! You can either leave that item off altogether OR you can add it for those who will enjoy it! Moment of truth…I HATE mint and chocolate together. Yuck. I have never liked it and never will! Somehow, I am raising two children who are in LOVE this combination! When I make boards like this, everyone wins! They can have their fill of minty chocolates and I can happily steer clear! There is truly something for everyone with these fun trays!
There is a big empty spot on my board…help!
Don’t panic! This is an easy fix! You can either spread out some of the treats around it to fill in the space, or you can just pile on more goodies! You honestly cannot screw this up! The messier the better! It just creates more fun exploring all of the hidden deliciousness!
Ingredients for Valentine’s Dessert Board
- Assorted Candies and Chocolates
- Pretzel Rods
- Brownies and/or cookies
- Chocolate for dipping
How to make our Valentine’s Dessert Board
Choose a large plate, tray or butcher paper to create your board. You want to choose something large enough to accommodate all of your treats, but small enough so your ingredients fill the space and appear like it is overflowing with choices!
Next, place any bowls or plates on the tray or paper. These items will work as dividers for your items and be sure to contain any items that are wet or liquid, so that they do not ruin the dry items.
Add foods that will take up large spaces around the board first, the place smaller items. For loose items like small candies or nuts and dried fruits, save these items for last and fill any holes on the board with these. Don’t be afraid to get creative! I love piping pre-made brownies or cookies with icing and sprinkles for a festive touch.
Charcuterie boards are fun additions to any party or gathering. Just grab some items in your fridge or pantry and turn them into something everyone will be excited for! There is no wrong way to assemble this fun, festive party board!

Turn something simple you use all the time into an adorable show of affection for your little and big loved-ones. Our Valentine Cinnamon Rolls are adorable and so easy to make. Make your kiddos smile in the morning with these cute little hearts that take less than 5 minutes!
Over the Christmas holiday, I had a girlfriend make some super cute Christmas trees out of cinnamon rolls. The kids loved them and they were such a simple idea. I decided to try my hand with the same concept, but to make little hearts for the kids for Valentines. I’ve made them for a random Tuesday morning because they make my kids smile, but I especially love making them for Valentine’s to give the day a little something extra special!
What kind of cinnamon does Cinnabon use?
First of all, there are two different types of Laurel trees, Cinnamomum Cassia, and Cinnamomum Ceylon, which produce the two most common forms of cinnamon, called Cassia and Ceylon. Cassia is redder, more pungent, and what Cinnabon uses as the spice base for their buns. This is 0one of the major contributing factors to their delicious taste!
Ingredients for our Valentines Cinnamon Rolls:
- Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls
- Cinnamon Rol Icing
- Sprinkles of your choice
How to make our Valentines Cinnamon Rolls:
Preheat the oven to 375 F.
Open the cinnamon roll can and separate the cinnamon rolls. One at a time, unroll them into a straight line.
Next, take the two ends in each hand and slowly roll in towards the middle.
Pinch the ends together and slightly manipulate to create a heart shape. They will hold their shape in the oven so no need to pin together the top with toothpicks. (I tried this and it made no difference and it was a pain to extract the tooth pick without ruining the heart after baking!)
Next, bake for 8-10 minutes. Once cooking is complete, remove and let cool for 5 minutes.
While they are cooling, drop a small drop of red food dye into the icing and stir. Continue adding food dye until you reach your desired cool. Be sure to remember that a little goes a long way! I add one drop, and stir completely. We wanted a light pink and we achieved our color with one drop.
Last, spread the icing on the cinnamon rolls and top with sprinkles. Be sure to let the cinnamon rolls cool for 5 minutes or the icing will just melt straight down the sides. (This is a great time to put to use those red sprinkles from Christmas you never used up!)
This really is a cute idea to use for a lot of occasions. When my son is stressing about a test the next day, I pop these Valentine Cinnamon Rolls out and call them a “lovey”. When my daughter is sad because her friend is moving away, I whip these up fast! It may not seem like much, but these speak a little of both of my kids love language. It speaks mine too because it is thoughtful without being difficult or time-intensive. Give these a try and I’m positive your littles’ will love them!
